What’s on in July 2017

The July exhibition “A Splash of Colour” showcases the work of three friends, Sandra Langhorne, Maureen Smith & Elaine Robinson.  The ladies, who style themselves ‘The Pilling Painters’, belong to the Over Wyre Art Society and the Blackpool Art Society.  They meet regularly to share ideas & encourage each other; trying different techniques and mediums to create exciting pictures of various subjects.   The exhibition will run from Tuesday 4th July to Thursday 27th July.  Sheila Tearle.  Tel 01995 603816.

We will begin our 7th year with an Open Session during Garstang Arts Festival – all are welcome to come and sing with us at 1.30pm on Monday 21st August.

Continuing as a ladies group we are making some changes from September. On the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month there will be piano accompaniment, but on the 2nd and 4th Mondays we will sing along to CDs/computer. We plan to meet during school holidays but will still close on bank holidays. Dates will be on The Arts Centre noticeboard.

Songbirds is a very friendly group – we do not give performances, just enjoy singing a wide repertoire and welcome those who have never sung in a group before, as well as those who sing well but do not want the commitment od a ‘proper’ choir!

Poetry Appreciation Group

 Friday July 28th 2pm – 4pm.

This months title is Gardening and Farming led by Eddie Potter .

This is a great topic for Garstang because so many of us are interested in both areas. There are a whole wealth of poems about the topics. Hopefully this will plant a seed in all our minds which will blossom into a very entertaining session! If you haven’t been to our group before you are very welcome to try a couple of taster sessions, we are an easy going group.
