What’s on in June

June Art exhibition

We are delighted to welcome Frances Winder to the Arts Centre and her colourful paintings may be seen from Tues. 5th June to Thurs 28th June. Frances, who lives in the Kendal area, says “I need to paint, I love the colour and inspiration I find around me.   I am grounded by our rich, sometimes dour, but real landscape.   Bones of structure showing everywhere, eroded and weathered, scratchily showing its beauty.   I love to feel the immensity of the sky, ever changing tidal bands on water and scarred landscape and forests.”   Sheila Tearle Tel.01995 603816.

Summer Optimism

The Garstang Ukulele Group could have 2 outside gigs in June if the sun is shining. We’ve been booked to play at the Cornmill Nursing Home and at Oaklands Cheshire Home, both of whom hope that we will be playing outside.

Beforehand we will have had a Hawaiian strumming workshop with Andrew Molina from Maui so maybe we should buy some colourful shirts :-).

If you fancy joining us contact Bob Sapey on 07985 713961.

The Arts Centre Bridge Group will meet at 7-00pm on Monday June 4th 11th 18th and 25th and also on Tuesday afternoons at 1-30pm on June 5th 12th and 26th.  New members are always welcome at this friendly group. Don’t worry if you are a complete beginner as there is always help and advice from more experienced players. For more information contact Bob Burns on 01995 603524.

The next meeting of Garstang Floral Art Group will be held in the Arts Centre on Tuesday 19th June at 2-00pm when we will be pleased to welcome the return of Delia Hoyles from Bay Horse as our speaker. Delia will be demonstrating her skills and giving us advice as she creates beautiful floral arrangements. Light refreshments will be served after the demonstration and visitors are always very welcome. Names will be taken at this meeting for the visit to Pool Foot Barn in July.

We work on individual and group projects, often raising money for charities.

Needlework Group

We meet in the Arts Centre on Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12 noon.  If you enjoy knitting, crochet, embroidery, patchwork, applique or would like to learn, do come and join this friendly, helpful group.

Contact: Ann Kelsall on (01995) 606408 or just turn up!

Songbirds is a very friendly ladies group – we do not give performances, just enjoy singing a wide repertoire and welcome those who have never sung in a group before, as well as those who sing well but do not want the commitment of a ‘proper’ choir!

We meet every Monday (except Bank Holidays) at 1.30pm. On the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month there will be piano accompaniment, but on the 2nd and 4th (& 5th) Mondays we will sing along to CDs/computer. Dates will be on The Arts Centre noticeboard.
