What’s on in May

“The May exhibition is by self taught artist/water colourist Geoff Butterworth FRSA BWS.   A serious motorcycle accident in 1974 forced Geoff out of an engineering career and into art which was his first love.   He turned professional in 1974 and achieved success in competitions; winning first prize at the British Watercolour Society on three consecutive occasions and last year he won a major award at the RI in London.   Geoff’s stunning watercolours may be seen from Tuesday 8th May – Thursday 31st May. AN EXHIBITION NOT TO BE MISSED.  Sheila Tearle 01995 603816”

Poetry Appreciation Group

 Friday MAY 25TH  2pm – 4pm

The topic this month presented by Marie Whalley is poems about Older People.  Ageing is a natural process, each stage  brings new experiences,  its happy moments and those not so happy.  As we age we can reflect on our lives and what we have learned. Life’s experiences are invaluable. They shape our lives.  Wisdom is one of the great gifts of ageing. Over the centuries poets have written some wonderful pieces about every aspect of ageing! We look forward to a very interesting session. Visitors are always very welcome. Come and sit and listen or join in if you wish.  For more information please contact Marie Whalley 01995 603605

If you are interested in woolcrafts (knitting, crochet, maybe felting) or would like to know what we do, please come along to the Arts Centre in Garstang at 7.00pm on Tuesday evenings (except the first of the month) or Friday afternoons at 2.00pm, where we will make you very welcome.

We work on individual and group projects, often raising money for charities.

Everyone is welcome, experienced or beginner. We will support you! There will also be tea and biscuits!  Contact Kate Crook  07759 659004

Songbirds is a very friendly ladies group – we do not give performances, just enjoy singing a wide repertoire and welcome those who have never sung in a group before, as well as those who sing well but do not want the commitment of a ‘proper’ choir!

We meet every Monday (except Bank Holidays) at 1.30pm. On the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month there will be piano accompaniment, but on the 2nd and 4th (& 5th) Mondays we will sing along to CDs/computer. Dates will be on The Arts Centre noticeboard.
