Garstang Ukulele Group

We have been meeting at the Arts Centre for 3 years. Every Sunday afternoon from 2-4, we meet and play, we learn new songs and play our favourites. Some people write and perform their own and recently we recorded one of these – have a look on YouTube at Joe Gilmour’s tribute to Elton John: https://youtu.be/nHJbH64ICyg.

Our players vary in ability from complete beginners to very good, but we aim to ensure that everyone is able to join in with the group on Sundays and at our performances. The Sunday sessions are led by Mike Gradwell who teaches us to play the songs, and by Kizzy Felstead who give extra tuition to beginners. We all contribute £2 a week to the cost of providing this.

If you are interested in joining us, please contact Bob Sapey on 01995 604621

The next meeting of the Garstang Floral Art Group is to be a Workshop led by Brenda Newhouse and will be held in the Arts Centre on Tuesday September 18th at 2-00pm. Members will be shown how to create an Autumn arrangement using fruit, vegetables and flowers. Brenda guides us step by step so everyone can feel proud of their work and the completed arrangements could come in very useful for local Harvest Festivals! Members and visitors are welcome to watch if they do not wish to take part in the workshop as Brenda always makes them very enjoyable.

Songbirds is a very friendly ladies group – we do not give performances, just enjoy singing a wide repertoire and welcome those who have never sung in a group before, as well as those who sing well but do not want the commitment of a ‘proper’ choir!

We meet every Monday (except Bank Holidays) at 1.30pm. On the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month there will be piano accompaniment, but on the 2nd and 4th (& 5th) Mondays we will sing along to CDs/computer. Dates will be on The Arts Centre noticeboard.
